I have a bunch of pictures and I have loaded pictures on the board before but when I try it says board has reached it's picture limit ??? Is that because I am doing something wrong or is it full

Looking to identify model of my Remington Griffen& Howe rifle ??

This is a nice old Griffen & Howe custom Remington either 700 or 721 I think ?? When I bought it I thought it was a model 700 but after looking at features could be a 721. First off it has a drop floor plate similar to a 700 where a 721 doesn't. The plate release mechanism is a bit different tha...

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg

These are serial numbers for my two 725 Kodiak rifles. There are no date codes as they were made in custom shop. Serial # 718201-375 H&H-made in 1961- 26" barrel with factory muzzle brake Serial # 718204-458 win mag-made in 1961-26"barrel with factory muzzle brake The 375 is top gun 45...

Re: John Lacy's The Remington 700 History/Manual

He goes into some detail about custom shop and he has approximate production numbers up to 1972. Some nice pictures of custom guns also. It is truly a great and must have book if you collect 700s or most of the earlier Remington bolt actions. Let me know if you have more questions. John Taylor

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg

The bluing sure looks original to me ! Could be the code was forgotten then overlooked by inspectors ? It is an early model. I have seen some goofy marks and codes on Remingtons. Nice rifle I would call it original other than the sights and there is nothing wrong with them ! John Taylor

Re: Hand checkering vs pressed checkering

To me the old hand done custom shop checkering was beautiful !!! And it was done by true craftsman. Take the anniversary edition 7mm rem mag gun I would spend my money on an original in good shape before I bought the copy ! Here are a few pictures of a 1964 Custom Shop / C Grade in 222 rem mag. Now ...

Re: Remington Model 121 in " 22 SHORT ONLY "

To ChuckD I would love to see a picture of that 572 with the Simmons rib ! I know a guy that has a 572 marked SKEET TRAP ! I have a 572 smoothbore but they were more common. I also read that some 121s had a smooth bore that was 22 cal all the way through not like the Routledge and Mo Skeet O Bores. ...

Re: Remington Model 121 in " 22 SHORT ONLY "

To Scorpion8 I have been collecting 22 slide action rifles of all brands for 20 years or a bit more and really watch all auction sites and classified adds and this is only the second 121 that I have seen in" 22 short only " so in my mind that is kind of rare !!! Maybe there are a lot of sl...

Nice Moose !! I have applied for 17 year and no luck ! My girlfriend got a cow only permit first year she applied !! We went up around Eustis Maine and I shot a black bear and she got a nice cow moose. That was in the 90s. John

Remington Model 121 in " 22 SHORT ONLY "

I wanted to share what I believe to be a nice and pretty rare rifle I bought the other day. It is a mod 121 in " 22 SHORT ONLY " !! I have myself only heard of one other in the last five or so years I have been looking for one. The other I was supposed to buy from a fellow Remington Societ...

Re: Transitional 725 / 700 - Kodiak / 1962 Safari

Rem725 thanks for the reply. I think parts clean up guns are overlooked because people always think they are "messed with" !! As far as the one I showed pics of I talked to John Lacy about it and he said he has seen others similar to mine. You stop and think if a new gun is going to come o...

Re: Transitional 725 / 700 - Kodiak / 1962 Safari

Well I guess the 725 Kodiaks and the early 62 Safaris are about a dead subject on this board ??? I find it hard to believe with all these Remington collectors that there is no one interested except 600RemGuy and I thank you for the response ??? Any one in the future that finds this with interest ple...

Re: Transitional 725 / 700 - Kodiak / 1962 Safari

Thanks for the reply ! Being out of the custom shop there is usually no barrel date code but I have owned one Kodiak that did have a barrel code of "WH" which signifies August of 1961 manufacture which is just right for a Kodiak. There is also one listed on Gunbroker right now with the sam...
