Re: Remington model 25 question

Whether an early one, with the Model 25 on the barrel, or a late one, with Model 25 on the side, they were simply marked Model 25. The "R" was not used.......tom

Re: 760C in .280 Rem.

Digging out my copy of Gene Myszkowski's excellent book again, we find that 2570 "C" carbines were made from 1960-1963 in 270. CDL carbines were made from 1961-1963, and 418 of those were made in 270. In his book, a 760 C grade carbine is pictured with the buckhorn rear sight as you seem t...

RSA knives in 2007

In 2007, a classic Remington bullet knife was made commemorating 25 years of the Remington Society. Does anyone know how many of these knives were produced?

Re: Model 14 - Can it be dated?

The, what I see as "XX", indicates a rifle built 12/29. EXX3 shows that it was "returned to the factory for repair" in October, 1951. The partial serial number is consistent with rifles in my database made in late 1929.....tom

I am no expert on 700s but you have been waiting long enough for a reply. I know of no 700 that was ever offered with a straight stock and would therefore assume that it is not factory. As I say, I am no expert on them and could be wrong.......tom

Re: Hoping to get info on a newly inherited Rem Woodsmaster

The 742 ADL was made from 1960 thru 1963 with those game scenes on the receiver, so yearly date codes should have a 2nd letter of G, H, J or K. My own 84685 is AJ=March, 1962 production. I would think that the 123485 serial would put yours at late 1963 production. If you intend to shoot it much, I w...

Re: Please help dating my 14C

91163 falls in among guns built anywhere from 1923-1925. They didn't exactly follow in serial number order with the receivers at the factory. On the left side of the barrel, under and right usually, of the caliber designation, you should find two letters. Send that information to me and I can date i...

Re: remington model 25R

The illustration in the 1923 catalog is of a carbine with a full magazine, rear rifle style sight, and no sling loops. From what I found, it appears that the earliest ones, when they finally started turning them out, had a 2/3 magazine, rifle style sight rear, and no sling loops. The stock was a str...

Re: Model 14 1/2 serialization?

All 14½s were numbered with model 14s. A 70xxx receiver would have been around 1920 but Remington did not always build guns in order so we have to look at the rifle more closely to try and determine the year. Sometime in 1922 they started stamping a two letter code on the barrel in the area below th...

Re: 512X Question

I thought someone better qualified would answer you by now but since it has not happened I will try and help you out. The 512 was introduced in 1940 as a bolt action with the tubular magazine. They were last advertised in 1962 but were sold thru 1963. Receivers were grooved for a scope in the mid 50...

Going by the serial number, your rifle was most likely made in 1916. www.Reedsammo.com lists ammunition for it at $32 per box. I would stick with their 150 grain loading if it were me....tom

Re: REMINGTON 141R

Congratulations on finding a 141R. Ken Blauch, in his book, puts the number of carbines made at no more than 250. No one knows for sure as Remington never kept a record of them. I keep a database on Model 14s, 14½s, 25s, and 141s. If possible, I would like ot get some information on your 141R, such ...

I would just like to ad that the above story is true. It is remarkable in today's world to find a gun plumber who will make "house calls". And the best part is, he didn't even charge mileage for the 2800 mile round trip....tom hemphill

Indeed, Nambujim is a miracle worker, Jesse. Good luck with your rifle. They shoot 205 grain ammo real good.
