More on the 10ga. open up to 3 1/2 inch and the receiver cracked the barrels held are Damascus. I have a copy of the proof load the London proof house uses.

Re: Clymer 16 gauge 2 3/4" reamer (finish).
Why not use the correct length shells and leave the chamber alone. I know of a Remington Model 1894 10ga. Damascus 2 7/8 the chambers were ream for 3 1/2 inch shells the gun was sent to London proof house the barrels held the receiver cracked.

Re: Old Double Barrel continued
I am interested in your double I have a C grade 12ga. with stamp 2 7/8 chambers. All the trap guns I check have 2 3/4 chambers. They are not stamped.

Just leave it alone you are asking for trouble you will regret later.

Re: Are Model 1882/83 and 1889 Parts Interchangeable
They can say its a 1883 they can not prove it without the hammers. Recorded serial numbers I have of guns 14,669 is 1883---14,738,14,743, 14,747, 14,918 are 1882....
14,968 is 1883..and the list goes on for both few are 1883.

Re: Are Model 1882/83 and 1889 Parts Interchangeable
With the parts you say are missing how do you know it is a Model 1883?
The 1882 and 83 parts are the same except for the hammers. 1889 hammers
will not work.

Re: remington SXS 1887
What shells are you using for black powder? I shoot brass shells that I reload with black powder. I have dies to size the cases and crimp the over shot wad. They are like factory loads. Yes they are fun to shoot. hunt with.
