Re: Native American Design Rifle?

For whatever its worth, I'm with Eddie on this one! You see all sorts of "strange" artwork on vintage rifle stocks and its usually from some dumbass that had too much time on his hands, thought he was an artist, and decorated his rifle. Eddie summed it up nicely!! Jim Peterson Charlotte, NC

Re: Collection of 14 models

I am sure you meant to say "I wish to start collecting the Remington Model 14, would like them in all calibers, and wish to obtain them in both carbine & rifle configurations". Hopefully I've stated what you are looking for in "almost" proper English without "misplaced m...

Let's talk about 14/141 Bolts

I'm posting this because you see a "lot" of stripped bolts for sale on Ebay, Gunbroker, and other auction sites. Most parts places like Numrich along with many others strip their bolts because there are certain parts they can readily sell like ejector rods, ejectors, firing pins, and maybe...

Re: Loading gate 14 1/2

Roger that! Picture sure tells the bloody story, never in 50+ years of screwing with these rifles have I ever seen that, probably the spring for the loading gate gave up or is missing. Again, the only way I can see you going forward is to remove the loading gate pin, should not be very difficult, an...

Re: Loading gate 14 1/2

This is something where I would need to have the rifle in front of me on my bench to have any real clue what is going on. You can remove the pin from the loading gate so as to remove it from the action bar, that shouldn't take much effort, and might allow you more access to the real problem. Only a ...

Re: Loading gate 14 1/2

Don! I can't picture exactly what took place but jams like you describe can be "epic" to clear. I'm just guessing here but you will need to strip everything you can in an effort to get at whatever is causing the problem. Had a 14-1/2 a few years back that had both an live round along with ...

Model 14/141 Triggerguards

This is one of those subjects where I could write three chapters in a book and never get you the full story. I'm going to take a stab at it because there are a LOT of trigger guards for sale on various auction sites, mainly Ebay. First of all most of the guards for sale are stripped which is NOT a g...

Model 14/141, 12/121, etc. Tang Sight Plug Screws

Here is one little piece of what might be useless information but I keep getting calls asking me if I have any of these little buggers for sale/available. When these guns were made Remington used some strange thread sizes including those for the "tang sight plug screws". There are those pu...

Model 14/141 Trigger Pull

Let's be clear about one thing, I'm not a hunter so I don't know what a hunter desires in the way of trigger pull. My background from the time I was about eight (8) was marksmanship (competitive target shooting smallbore & high power rifle). I earned my Junior Distinguished award when I was 14, ...

Re: Wire diameter Model 14 magazine spring

Ted!
You give me too much credit but according to Remington's:

Model C #14 Material Specifications issued 9-16-1935

it states:

Part #290, Music Wire, .029 Round

same for the 44-40/38-40

But it varied over the years.

Re: Remington 14 escutcheon

$20 will cover everything and yes personal check will be fine. My address is somewhere on the RSA site and if not............send me a personal email and I will give it to you. One other thing, the Remington factory had a LOT of sight options including Marble, Lyman, King, and others. You could orde...

Re: Remington 14 escutcheon

Don! Give me your address and I will ship you a couple, problem is I ship in a small priority mail box which costs $10 and the trip/time/gas to go to the post office is another $10 so I'll give you the the escutcheons but the cost of shipping is $20. You can probably get a "wood guy" to re...

Remington 141 Dealer to Avoid

I think I'm posting this just to express my disgust about the pricing on Gunbroker but for newer buyers it might be helpful. There is this Dealer in Goshen, NY who has this 62,000 serial 141 listed in .35 Remington, its in about 90% condition and hasn't been drilled. First thing you need to know is ...

Re: Remington 14 escutcheon

No, they are not on the parts schematic, and the only way you can get one is from one that is beat up beyond repair. The early ones were brass, later ones were steel, and to make things more interesting the inside diameter varies. I have a few or maybe even an old beat up fore arm that you could sal...

You posted this on the "handgun" portion of the site and for a guy that is supposed to have several Model 14 & 14-1/2's you ask a lot of basic questions. OK, I'll try to be nice because Tom Hemphill asked be to give you a reply...............YES! OH! They did make some 14's & 14-1/...
