Re: Model 25 Help Needed

Roger all that! Yes, it would have been incredulous if Remington had used some sort of standard thread on any of their screws but I thought it worth a shot. I did not get the urge to take one of my M25's apart far enough to expose those screws and experiment with my collection of plug screws.....sor...

Re: Model 12 .22 Questions

I agree with the others, it is a plug for a "silencer" and is probably threaded into the end of the barrel. In the past I was able to purchase guns from Australia and these modifications were common. I imported a M12-C that had an almost identical plug in the end of the barrel. Jim Peterso...

Re: Model 25 Help Needed

I know the screws to which you are referring, they essentially are plug screws but have a little "nipple" like protrusion on the end. They are very similar to the "magazine screw" on a Model 14 but without a head and like the M14 screw and they virtually impossible to find. I hav...

Re: 223 WSSM

Thanks for all that visited to see what sort of dummy would post something about such a funky cartridge. I have managed to give away the ammo/brass to a "needy" shooter. Sorrry to have clogged up the site with this posting.

223 WSSM

At a show a few years back I acquired some ammo/brass in this caliber along with a bunch of Model 14 parts, the ammo/brass was at the bottom of the box.....I think by mistake. It needs a home, if anybody wants it just ask and provide your address and pay the UPS. There is at least 70-90 Factory load...

May 1948, these are actually pretty decent shooters.

Re: Shot the 14 1/2 carbine today - wow!

I don't remember what I did to help with this carbine, these guns come/go out off my bench so frequently I lose track................or maybe I am getting to old to remember. Like so many older shooters my eyes have given out and anything you can do to help the situation with iron/open sights you mu...

Re: model 14 barrel sights

The regular 3/8" dovetail and the slot to the rear of it was for the Remington 117-1/2 Wheel Sight which you can find at extremely elevated prices on Ebay or the other gun related sites. The front portion of the sight went into the dovetail and the "base" for the elevation wheel went ...

Re: Mod 14 barrel

Andy!

I am NOT a gunsmith but rather a professional parts swapper.

Where are you located? I don't mind working on your gun, I really could use something to "swear at" for an hour or so.
Contact me direct and we can probably work something out.

Re: Mod 14 barrel

You encountered exactly what I spoke of in my original posting. In one case I just altered the bolt face to fit the barrel, worked for me without a problem, I have an aversion to messing or altering the barrel in any fashion. You are also a "case in point" that when I say your chances of g...

Re: Mod 14 barrel

I change M14 barrels on a regular basis and the removal does require a barrel vise. Some come out pretty easy, others not so easy but there has not been one that I could not get out using my bench mounted "barrel" vise. M14-1/2s always seem to come out with little difficulty. The problem i...
