Wow, that is some excellent craftsmanship. Is the buttstock original to the sporting model receiver ? Did the seller know who may of built the rifle ?

Re: 20 ga. with "Transform" frame
Hello Webb, I have seen both styles of Remington rolling block shotguns. I believe some of the shotguns were made using military receivers and other shotguns were made using the receivers from the sporting rifles. The receivers from the sporting rifles generally had the longer trigger guard with the...

Re: Is this a 1-1/2 model RB? Thanks for any help !
Hello, Your rolling rifle is not a No. 1-1/2, but a Model No.2 sporting rifle. Looking at you breech block it is set up to fire rimfire cartridges. The number 5982 is the serial number and the 38 is the caliber. I don't collect this type of rifle so I don't know a lot about them. If you go the faceb...

Re: Marking identification
The rolling block rifle looks to be a early made rifle with the two line patent date on the upper tang. The star and the crescent stamped on the barrel band looks to be from the Ottoman Empire or it could be Turkish. I know in George Layman’s book on military rolling block rifle he shows a photo of ...

Re: Inherited .50-70 Carbine Jun'21
Hello Corporal, Your carbine looks to be the New York State model. They were chambered in 50-70, the hammer should fell to the safety position when the breech block is closed. If the hammer doesn’t there could be some worn parts on the gun. I have some photos on file that show what the internal spri...

Re: Strange Rolling Block Carbine
It is a parts gun made to look like a 1867 Navy carbine. The frame has the name Remington Arms Company on it, this indicates that the fame was made after 1888. The breech block was modified by adding the stud extractor to it. The trigger guard is from another gun.

Larry Potterfield of Midway USA made a short video on youtube . If you look up "How to load ammunition for an 1867 Remington Rolling Block in 50-45-400" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-eA-L-NfOo He shows how he made cartridges for his carbine. Also if you are a member of facebook, you ca...

Re: Rolling Block Creedmoor target rifle
The Rolling Block Creedmoor rifles were originally in .44-77 Remington-Sharps bottleneck, but with rifling lead designed to allow the bullet to be seated out further to allow 90 grains of black powder. But soon they were chambered for a slightly longer case .44-90 Remington cartridge. Originally th...

It could be from the Light Baby Carbine that was chambered in 44-40. Here are some photos of my carbine.

Re: HELP with RIFLE ID
Thanks for the up dated photos of the rifle. It is the Egyptian Musketoon Rifle, in George Layman's book on Military Rolling Block Rifles of the World, he has a photo of a 2-band rifle like yours with a 28 inch barrel. I have see some 2-band Egyptian rifles with approximately 28 and 31 inch barrels....
