Re: Help with Identifying Remington shotgun

Your Whitmore is a Model 1875 and I would say at least a grade 5, maybe higher if we could see some close detailed photos of the engraving. In my limited recordings from people of various 1875 model, I do show only one that is a 2 barrel set (gauge 10/12) and that one is serial 91. Look very careful...

Re: Decarbonized Barrells

First off, your 1889 Remington, left the factory in 1889. As reseacher says, we don't know if the decarbonized steel used on the early guns is the same or similar to the later guns. However, decarbonized steel is considered as being strong but not like today's steel. I have heard reference to it as ...

Re: Help, Did they make a 1900 20 ga?

Check that gun very carefully. If indeed it is serial Q300000, it is a 12 gauge gun! Also, there is only one known Model 1900 in 20 gauge. There might be others but in over 35 years of research, no other 20ga. has been reported.

Remington 141 in .35 Cal. date please

By the code letters CE, I think this 141 was made in 1936, serial 4010. But I am not sure. It is a 24inch barrel. Am I correct or if not, what year was it manufactured? Thank you very much.

Re: Remington 700 date, please

This might be a duplicate message, but thank you Den. Your description of the stocks fit this rifle exactly as a BDL. It has the straight-cut machine checkering on both the forend and pistol grip area.

Remington 700 date, please

On this Remington 700 the code number stamps on the barrel are. First is a small square like stamp, then XY R. By the Remington charts I think it dates the rifle 1950-51, but I am not sure. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: 1894 on Gunbroker

Actually this question is for "researcher". Was that Remington EE 100173 that you saw at Vintage Cup in a hard case labled M. Hartley? A buddy of mine saw it and was'nt sure. Thanks-----Charlie

Re: 1894 on Gunbroker

Tom, First of all I think you made a decent buy. It is not unusual that there is no grade stamp on the water table. The gun "researcher" is talking about, 100173, is one I owned and was not stamped. Your EE 100202 was probably made a couple months after 100173, and in the first year of pro...

Re: Shotgun ID Question

Dave, You have a Model 1900 Remington which left the factory in 1905. If it has automatic ejectors then the Grade would be called KED, if just an extractor gun then grade KD. The 1900's were made starting in 1900 ending 1911. It is a less expensive model than the 1894. If you check the chambers you'...

Re: E.Remington rolling block rifle

You definitely have a Model #2 Rolling Block. The shape of the receiver rear is the give away as it is the only RB rifle with that type. Also the purch belly stock is another mark of a #2. I have no idea of manufacture date. Probably prior 1894.

Re: Water Table numbers

Need a little more info. When you say "carved lightly on the stock" is that normal checkering or someone actually carved something on it? The number 51 is an assembly number, you might see that same number on the inside iron of the forend. Guess you would have to get a fired 12 gauge empty...

Re: Remington 1882 10g parts wanted (or possible sell)

Sorry, but just for your and a buyer information. Your 1882 is not a Grade 5, it is a Grade 3. Grade 5 would have been highly engraved. I think you are assuming grade 5 by that number 5 on the barrels. We don't really know the meaning of that number. It may have something to do with the Damascus type.
