Identify a Remington Grip Cap

This grip cap is on a Belgium hammer shotgun. Made in Leige. The owner thought it was a Remington because of the grip cap. Can you tell me what Remington gun used such a cap?

Re: 1885 sxs questions

To add a little more info. There is only one catalog I have ever seen that does list a Trap gun. It is an 1887 Lamberson, Furman & Co. revised price list of E. Remington & Sons Sporting Arms. In that catalog it is stated "Remington New Model Double Barrel Trap Gun". There are only ...

Re: Number 2 ? RB info

tjack is correct. I have a #4 solid frame with a somewhat rough bore. I shoot cowboy silhouette with it and use .22 long only. After about 5-6 rounds through, it shoots just fine. Guess fouling and lead fills the rough. I might be wrong but the older guns like you have, shoot better with .22 long th...

Re: 1882 12 ga remington trap sxs, any info pls

No need to post photos . Your Remington is not a Model 1882. By the serial number 19687, it falls into a Model 1885. Though we cannot pin down the manufacture date exactly, it possibly was produced late 1886.

Re: 1882 12 ga remington trap sxs, any info pls

What is the serial number of the gun and can you post any photos of the gun? By the serial number it may be a different Model. We have no idea, nor records, about these early ERS guns. Everything known has been done by years of research and observation. Obviously it was made by E. Remington & So...

Re: Model 1882 Rem SXS

There are no records in regards to the 1882, or for that matter , any E. Remington & Sons shotguns. However, according to known serial numbers it is estimated the 1882 started with serial 1,000 and ended with 17,000, representing a production of 16,000 guns. So you can do the math and estimate y...

Re: Engraved Rem No. 1 Single Barrel Rolling Block 16 Gauge?

In 1991 I photographed a number of Remington double shotguns and the owner asked me to just take a couple photos of his engraved single shot rolling block. I am not an expert on engraved rolling blocks, but after viewing the Cheasapeake site, my opinion is that one is a special order, as was his. Th...

Re: Remington 1894 high grade value??

One added comment. The stock has obviouly been cut for the recoil pad. But the checkering pattern tells me it is the original butt stock. Especially the added oval gold name plate is in the right position.

Re: Remington 1894 high grade value??

I really wouldn't call the gun messed with. As far as we know, for some reason this EE got to Belgium and was rebarreled there. Study the Belgium markings on the barrel flat and they are not Remington barrels. And yes that beaver forend is not Remington. However it still is a Remington EE grade shot...

Re: Info on 1894

Pretty much yes. The pellet numbers are actually 327-331. For some reason Remington drops the first digit "3" on 12 gauge. Known hang tags tell us they mostly used #8 shot and 1 1/4 oz. in targetting at the factory. Full choke would be appx. 383 pellets.

Re: Remington side by side 12 gauge shotgun

jmcalli, I copied your Whitmore through Photoshop and I am guessing it is either a Model 1875 or 1876, especially with the wedge pin forend. Would you give us the serial number? Also looks like a 10 gauge and you are right calling it a Grade 5.

Re: Remington Model 1900 Double Barrel Shotgun

Sorry, Double_Barrel, that I didn't get into your inquiry earlier. Hate to say it ,but maybe you should have bought that 1900 for that price. especially since it is a factory set with those #s 1&2 on the barrels. From contacts and observations, I have recorded 305 model 1900 guns. Of that amount...

Re: Great Grandfathers's Shotgun

Yes it is a Model 1882. From your photos, I can only guess the barrels are not Damascus. If not, then they are decarbonized steel and what we call Grade one. You probably will also find the serial number 7453 stamped on the inside toe of the metal butt plate. There are no surviving records so there ...

Re: 1900 stock removal

Here is a "text" for a man years ago that had the same problem, his was a model 1894 but the 1900 is the same. Getting the stock off is a bit tricky. Hard to describe but following is a description I gave a man in 1997 and he reported it went fine. Naturally this is done in a padded vise ...

I might be nuts, but it sounds like a sporterized military 1903-A3.
