Re: 241 barrel code question

E SS would make sense and fit the timeline 241's were made. E = October, SS = 1947.

Re: Model 722

With no factory barrel marks, it must be a re-barrel. Yes 244 and 6mm are the same.
Check the twist with a cleaning rod and a tight patch. Measure the rods length traveled in one complete turn.

Re: 700 sps in 270 wsm

Pressure, yes. I would guess those are reloaded ammo. Don't use them. If factory, then something is wrong. Good time to start reloading with the use of a good book.

Re: M700 Lawsuits?

My Dad taught me to test the 721-2 triggers with firm bolt closing, and bouncing the butt on the floor after every maintenance session. Dad had 721s (first a 270) since 1949. My first Rem was a 725 270 in 1959. I was 10. With care and proper adjustment the rifles were safe.

Regular inspection and cleaning is important too. But you still got to know what you are doing

Re: M700 Lawsuits?

I have a 700 in 25-06. It is a bit beat up already. So after hearing about the broadcast and the safety issues I took it out. Loaded the clip. Cranked a round in the chamber. Pointed it in a safe direction and proceeded to beat the crap out of it. I smacked the but stock against a stump. I beat aga...

Re: 722 grade questions

Stock and floor plate are both after market. The standard 1960 722's were stocked rather plainly. Factory upgrades were available, but the stock pictured is not one of them. Nicely done though.

Re: Will you be takng a vintage Remington deer hunting?

All I ever deer hunt with are 721 or 725 in 270 or 3006. Varmints have a little variety, but mostly use 722 222. Elk is a different story, used a M70 338, pre 64 of course. Come to think of it I carried a 722 300Sav for deer one time. Oh and then there was the peep sighted early M54 3006 one time. S...

Yep. 280 barreled Belgian Mauser. That action was used under several brand names.

Checkering looks very poor. Not usual B pattern.

Re: 40X Question

That is definitely a built rifle. Bolt stop and barrel. How much "under" 1" are the groups? A swift ought to shoot under .5" at 100yds in its prime. Swift barrels are shot out rather quickly. I had a 722 barreled like that huge long barrel in 6mm. 3/8" groups were on the bad...

721, 722, and 700 started in 1947 IMO

I do not consider the Model 700 as being "introduced" in 1962. There is so little difference between the 700s and the Models 721 and 722. I consider the Remington Models 721, 722, and 700 as "introduced" in 1947, and continue to this day with some cosmetic changes and some engine...

Re: Odd duck Rem 700, need help with ID

If that has factory markings and sight screw holes, it could most likely be a 40xb type barrel poorly installed in a 700 action. Not putting the holes on top sucks. Although it might still shoot tiny groups. My old 6mm 40x shoots 1/4"
