I was also told by more than one that "skip line cut checkering" was an available option as early as 67.When I seen it on an early gun,I always thought someone swapped stocks.Hard for me to believe though

I'm not sure, so am tagging this onto this thread..... Cut checkering (non-skip line), how long was that done on BDL's, and what years? I had a .243 and a .300 winmag both with that type of checkering. I thought that was around '74 (from discussions back in early 80's, which could have been incorre...

Thanks. Did the early "flat" style safety also change the same time when Remington went with the ribbon checkering? I dont recall ever seeing a flat safety on a ribbon checkered gun.

I had a NIB 541S that had period correct iron sites on it.Box made no reference to it having sites though,so i figured someone threw them on later.

700 BDL Checkering
Hello, New guy here.Hoping to share/gain info with some of the experts here. My question is,what is the name of the checkering pattern that followed the fleur -de-lis on the 700's.Probably started around 69-70.I always called it the "S" type but I figuered there was a proper name. Thanks,T...
