Re: Question About Model 25

Jethro! The "short" answer is "you're in trouble" but you probably knew that. The Model 25 when working properly is super-cool and a desired piece. Problem is they made very few of these, parts are impossible to find, 98.7% of gunsmiths have never seen one, few really know how th...

Re: Questions About Model 14 Carbine

Going to say this for the 100th time on the site. You do NOT use cast bullets in these rifles! You do NOT use Flat Point bullets in these rifles! You will get slivers from the cast bullets that will seriously mess with your feed system. .............and if that isn't enough, these rifles came with &...

Re: Questions About Model 14 Carbine

14 Carbines in that condition are difficult to find, nice rifle! Lyman R14 tang sight fits in the holes provided by the factory at the back/top of the receiver, so will a Marble R8 but it has a small screw that goes into the stock. Either sight would require replacement of the front sight. The Wheel...

Re: New to the forms anyone willing to help ?

The rest of the markings are usually inspectors marks for which their can be several. No real meaning unless it was returned to the plant for repair, then they could I.D. who approved it. You've identified the barrel code & serial, those are the two most important markings. Enjoy your rifle, goo...

Re: Rem 141 scope mount

They sort of look like Redfield JR rings used on early military scopes. Best source of finding that type of info (part number/make) is old Gun Digests & Shooter's Bible. You can start by dating your rifle, then find a Shooter's Bible of the same year, and would think they were still making them ...

Re: Remington 141's help identifying.

Fred! Yeah, being an armorer and knowing tube feed isn't the least bit helpful when it comes to these rifles................the feed system is unique to them. I guess the good news would be that if you messed up working on one, you can use the others for spare parts. When/if you go to take one fully...

Re: Remington 141's help identifying.

Fred! The three (3) Model 14's were all made before 1917, the Model 141 is first year production like 1935 or 36. These rifles are very "quirky" and the early Model 14's are the most "quirky" because they started making changes to the Model 14 the day after it was introduced in 1...

Re: Remington 141's help identifying.

Tom Hemphill asked me to advise that three (3) of those Model 141's are actually Model 14's. I will add that there are quite a few differences between the two models. Although I only took a brief look, all of yours have been seriously messed with. Only the rifle marked Model 141 on the side "is...

Re: model 37 stock butt plate

Steel checkered!

Very similar if not the same used on the 513-T, for certain it was the same style!

Re: Native American Design Rifle?

For whatever its worth, I'm with Eddie on this one! You see all sorts of "strange" artwork on vintage rifle stocks and its usually from some dumbass that had too much time on his hands, thought he was an artist, and decorated his rifle. Eddie summed it up nicely!! Jim Peterson Charlotte, NC

Re: Collection of 14 models

I am sure you meant to say "I wish to start collecting the Remington Model 14, would like them in all calibers, and wish to obtain them in both carbine & rifle configurations". Hopefully I've stated what you are looking for in "almost" proper English without "misplaced m...
