Dave, REM725 is right, you've got a rare item there of special significance to those of us interested in the 721/2 rifles. Lacy would likely be interested to know about your rifle, please don't ever scrap that one out! The flat trigger on your rifle was the first type that seems to have been changed...

REM725, Another transition, 721 .270 s/n 4222XX, AF 3/59. Interesting note; one of my 308's is the same s/n as one listed in Lacy's book on the 700.

Of all the 660's I've seen, they all had the rear sight that Remington used from 1958-1973 on many of their models. Remington is well known for standardizing parts to reduce inventory. I'm about 99% sure that the sight you saw on the older ADL will fit your rifle(holes will line up). You occaisional...

From you're description, it's probably only worth 3-500, depending a lot on how much you want it. There was one on AA recently for over 8-900 but it was like new. The scope won't add much unless it's unique, like a good Unertl, and the checkering was factory standard on all 725's which doesn't in it...

Here's a few more to edit in Rem 725, I'd do it myself but not sure how.

26" barrel on the .244, all 3 of mine are 26". I do believe however, that they dropped back to 24" around 1958 when they started making the transition model, without the barrel boss, have never seen a "T" .244 so couldn't say for certain.

I have 722's with and without the barrel boss, I can put the one without the boss in an earlier stock with the cutout but trying to put one with the boss into a later "transitional" stock does'nt seat quite right. As best I've been able to determine all 721/722 stocks are plain jane affair...

No one presently makes one or likely ever will, I do see some come up on EB every now and then, course there not likely 100% new. Remington called the "bump" a barrel boss, it was to add more steel to have enough "meat" to cut the dovetail for the rear sight without endangering t...

The rear sight for the 721 is a thin peice of stamped sheet steel with the piece that fits in the dovetail brazed on, it also comes with a separate piece called the elevator which is serrated on one edge to adjust elevation, that piece slides into a 1" slit in the sight and is held in place by ...

It's really only worth what you're willing to pay for it. I've seen at least two available per month the past six months on several different sites. They averaged $400 for less than 90% to $600 for 95%+. The .222 seems to sell fairly well for 722 rifles. If this guy is the orginal owner and he's tak...

Some of the B models have the letter B stamped or engraved after the model # on the receiver. You can veiw a pic of a B model with a high comb stock at http://www.randgfirearms.com ( I think it's still there)
