Re: 1100 plugs
My dad's old Ithaca 37 still has a piece of a tree branch - bark and all - from the '60s or '70s keeping it three-shot legal. I've offered to fit a polymer plug for that gun, but nope, the stick stays.

Re: 1100 plugs
A plug is about the simplest way to limit magazine capacity in a tube-fed shotgun. If you don't want to order a pre-made plug and wait for delivery, you can make something just as functional out of a piece of wood dowel or plastic rod stock.

Re: Remington 870 partially finished toolroom recievers
Thanks. Those are pretty neat.
By the way, would you happen to remember the specific alloy Remington used for these?

Re: Remington 870 partially finished toolroom recievers
I'm not sure if they'd be worth anything as collector's items, but they sound like pretty interesting souvenirs. Any chance you could post some pictures?

Looking for some measurements for 870 barrels
I'm working on a video that focuses on barrel lengths, and one of the things I'm going to mention is that the barrel guide ring on 870s can be used as a reference, allowing barrel length to be measured without taking the gun apart or sticking anything down the bore. On standard 12ga 870 barrels, the...

Re: Shooting slugs and buck shot in 16 ga 870 Express
You shouldn't have a problem with buckshot, and slugs can generally be fired through most chokes, though repeated use of slugs in overly-tight chokes can be hard on the gun. When in doubt, look for recommendations from Remington and the ammo manufacturer. Like Virginian said, if your barrel is threa...

Re: Where to buy Remington 870?
An 870 is an 870, so don't be afraid to shop around. I've used Gunbroker before, and there are some good deals to be had there. Be aware that some of the less-expensive, entry-level 870s are Express Tactical models that are built on receivers with the long magazine tubes. If you're looking for an 87...

Re: 870 ejector spring
IMO, there is nothing wrong with a Wingmaster. No argument here. Ejector parts on the 870 tend to last the life of the gun, especially the way most folks use their guns. Even if the spring does happen to break, replacing it is usually a simple matter for a skilled individual with the right tools. H...

Re: 870 ejector spring
One, you can carefully pry the spring off the rivet. Carefully squeeze don the tip of the rivet and put the new spring on the old rivet, and re-rivet it. You will need to back up the rivet. I like a clean smooth piece of steel with a brown bag over it so you don't screw up the bluing. Two, you can ...
