I like it, even with the sight and shortened barrel.
I think it is likely original nickel also, Thanks for posting the pics.

Re: Cylinder Pin for my Remington New Model
Received the pin from Jim the other day.
I am very happy with it. I, like him, cannot tell if it is a used original or a aged repro that may have seen some use.
Anyway for 15.00 I am not complaining even if repro. Thanks for the lead to Jim.

Re: Two New Model Army
You mean someone like S&S Firearms, or Lodgewood cannot even send nipples for a antique over there?

Re: Two New Model Army
I really cannot tell you why they reverted back to the original Beals patent date on the later ones. But yours appear to have the correct barrels in place. Does your serial numbers match on your frame under the grips and the underside of the barrels? Loading lever went through a few different design...

Re: Two New Model Army
Your lower serial numbered one is likely a Old Model 1861 made around 1862. It may not say New Model on the barrel. Just: Patented Dec 17 1861 Manufactured by Remingtons Ilion N.Y. Yours would be a late production 1861 as it has exposed threads at the barrel rear. It has the German cone type front s...

Re: Loading powder
I assume you have a original, not a repro? I use 25 grains of 3f. That is the only real Black I have available right now. I do have some 1F but it is used in my Cannon. I use filler sometimes on top the powder to take up space. Sometimes I use wads. Ball size is dependent more on the particular Fire...

Re: 1875 Remington SA - date of mfr.
I like photos. Post em whether they help or not
I have a repro 1875. Always wanted a original but I have never found one to my financial liking.
Not sure if anyone can date it very close, likely not. But I am going to guess sometime before 1890

Re: Cylinder Pin for my Remington New Model
Thanks, if he has a real nice original. I would hope around 74.99 would buy it
I will give em a call. I did find a original repro at S&S Firearms for 17.00. Neither Dixie or Numerich has a repro for the originals. Lodgewood used to have repros but are out.
Will let you know what I find..

Re: 1858 Remington original reproduction fitting part proble
Lodgewood and S&S firearms has a good assortment of parts. New reproduction and originals parts. Most of the time with repro parts for originals, you will have to do some filing and fitting. They are usually made oversize to do so. They just usually will not just drop in. Originally most parts w...

Re: 1858 Remington
Thanks Bill,I appreciate the dating of it. I have only owned one other original, so it certainly could be a replacement latch, as I do not recall what my other one looked like.. Had to go look at some pics to refresh my failing memory. I will post a pic of the latch mod in the daylight tomorrow. You...

1858 Remington
Actually I think officially it is likley a 1863. But everyone seems to refer to them all as 1858s. Anyway just traded for a new one the other day and hope someone has some info for me on it. Serial number is 81588 There is a W on the trigger guard, W on left side of barrel flat. P on the opposite si...

Re: 1858 New Model
I would venture to say both your 1858s are nickel plated later on by a individual. Remington as far as I know, never plated any 1858s at all..Silver or Nickel.
The plating will hurt the collector value some..

Re: 1861 Revolver
I know your post is a little old but I bought one from Dixie Gun Works that was a repro but fit good..You have to look in the section for original type gun parts, not the new repro gun parts section..Goodluck if you have not found one yet..
