Re: Pre Model 11 Buttplate
Hoss, Actually that one would predate your gun. Yours would be exactly the same but have ARMS CO in the lower banner instead of Automatic. NC Ordnance makes both types Bill is very easy to deal with. Check his website just make sure the dimensions match as they put that same type plate on a few diff...

Re: H.D. Gibbs and his Remington Pump
Thanks Drew.
Sorry I've been off line a while.
I'll refresh the memory banks.
For some reason, probably my slow antiquated computer, when I try to use the LA site the Adobe file never fully loads and stays blurred with the "spinning wheel of death"! Lol

Re: "Silent Billy" Herr and his Remington double
Thanks Drew for all the wonderful history. H.D. (Jake) Gibbs was from Union City, TN and a good friend of a dear friend of mine who hunted and shot "Town Pigeons" and crows with him in his later life. He was part of the infamous "Gin Squad" that Nash Buckingham shot with and wrot...

Re: Pigeon Gun ? or Trap Gun ?
The 1897 Hartley and Graham catalogue "muddies" the water for me a little on this topic. If you read the footnote on the right hand page this, to me anyway, suggests that at this point in history any straight gripped gun was a Pigeon type gun. This would be as opposed to a Pigeon Gun (Grad...

Re: Model 11 roll engraving
David, I believe the gun you are referring to is the .410 with "Enhanced Engraving" which was produced across a few lines of Remington Firearms, but the pattern for the .410 was unique. I believe these guns were all Laser Engraved. Do a search on Remington 1100, 11/87, 870, 7400 Enhanced E...

Re: Oddball Remington Auto Shotgun
The original Remington stock would be serialized in the bottom tang slot but that is it. If you look at the replacement stock suppliers sites they outline the different Series of stocks for the Model 11 and at least one of them I remember gave the bottom tang length dimension the would fit each seri...

Re: Oddball Remington Auto Shotgun
Does the trigger group have a slot in it for a push safety just ahead of the trigger?
If so the re-machined the trigger group to accept the later behind the trigger safety and used a new style trigger.
Frankenstein! Lol
That would put it a Series 1 replacement stock.

Re: Oddball Remington Auto Shotgun
Yes much later barrel.
If you take the stock off you can find the serial number of the trigger group stamped on it.
That would dictate what series replacement stock you would have but I believe it would be a Series 3 stock.
They are available from a few stock companies.
Good Luck,
Will

Re: Oddball Remington Auto Shotgun
Well the pictures bring on about as many questions as they answer for me. Maybe researcher will chime in but it appears to be a early (1907) serial number on a gun that has been machined and fitted with much later equipment, ie. locking carrier screw, carrier button, trigger group. May have been don...

Re: Oddball Remington Auto Shotgun
Steve, I can't get there from here. I do not have a clue about the stampings but the bolt, bolt handle, and carrier button are all much later than the serial number you give. Also the barrel will be stamped with a serial number under the magazine tube ring. That may answer some of your questions. A ...

Re: Model 11 fiber washer ?
Paul,
Here is the diagram from an early Remington Autoloading Shotgun (Pre Model 11).
You can also easily check the buffer without taking out the bolt.
Just remove the trigger assembly and you should have a good view.
Good Luck, Will
