Re: low serial number model 10
Researcher, In 1906 Remington Firearms (All one line) catalogue that I just picked up an original copy of there appears an illustration with the K.D. and K.E.D. guns on page 5 that looks like a hunter in a boat and a dog in tall grass. The gun he is holding looks like the Remington Repeating Gun. If...

Re: Remington 1894 high grade value??
Dave,
I'd say yours would bring a nice piece more, now that's relatively speaking, so for grin and giggles wouldn't you think at least 35% premium?
That puts it at $30,375.
My 10 ga CEO made it in today undamaged in transit, thank goodness.
Nice 105 yr old gun.

I just picked up an 1894 CEO 10 ga.
Fairly decent metal condition but no CC.
Wood has an older reinish and checkering needs cleaning out.
Downside is the barrels have been shortened to 27.125", but it is too late to change that.

K@unit,
Production information is available on this website under manufacturing dates and through the summary of the factory ledgers for all model 11's produced after Sept. 1919 by month.
These records should help you narrow down most of your collection.

Re: Rem Model 11 Mfg Dates???
K2Unit, The first catalogue I have with the flat knob is the 1911-1912 edition. I have seen photos of a 5xx s/n gun and have heard tell of someone having a gun in the 1xx range. I have a photo copy of an Oct. 1952 Remington letter that states that s/n 15,2xx was produced in 1907. No one will ever kn...

10A is nothing more than the designation of the standard grade "A" model 10.
There is a very nice one on gunbroker right now.
Good luck,
Will

Re: 11-87 L/H
Tudurgs, I believe they quit using the date stamp on barrels. The brass piece is actually a screw that is in all 11-87 forearms to eliminate splitting. The head is cut off and then it is sanded to blend with the contour of the forearm. I had one that backed out a quarter turn. I had to mask the woo...

Re: Model 10 Experts Needed
The Remington Repeating Shotgun or the Model 1908 "Pump Shotgun" as it is refered to in the 1908-1909 Catalog was always chambered to shoot shells no longer than 2.75" in length. However, a 1908 2.75" shell and a 2011 2.75" shell do not have the same length both fired and un...

Re: Browning\Remington A5
Your gun is a Browning that was produced in the USA by Remington during the time that the Fabrique Nationale factory was closed during World War 2 because it had been bombed.
It is referred to as an "American Browning".
Hope this helps.

Re: Remington Autoloading shotgun
Dave,
The entire bolt assembly including the pin and operating handle body (the portion that interlocks with the bolt) was polished to a satin shine not a mirror and definitely not jeweled or engine turned.
The handle itself is fire blued on the operating handle not the entire part.

Re: Remington Autoloading shotgun
Dave, The "Crumbs" as you call them on the earliest Autoloaders were a mixture of rust blue and "fire" blue. The extractor, safety, operating handle, and all the screws were fire blued. The trigger, carrier button, buttplate screws and magazine cap were rust blued. The carrier wa...
