You have a Remington Autoloading Shotgun or what is known as a Pre-Model 11.
They were produced from 1905 until the 1910/1911 time frame when they were official designated the Model 11.
Is there any checkering on the stock and forarm?

Re: Do i have a model 11 or is it the pre model to the 11
I personally use the stamping on the gun as the defining factor.
If the upper and lower tangs of the receiver are not stamped "Remington" and "UMC" in a circle then I consider it a Remington Autoloading Shotgun.

Capt.,
You wouldn't happen to be from around Nashville, TN, would you?
There is not much in print, but you can get a general idea of what was available from the Remington catalogs of the times.
16 gauges were first produced in 1931.
Good Luck,
Will

Re: Remington UMC Early Model 10 Trap Grade?
What is the length of pull?
It may have been longer than standard and that may account for the length difference but the thickness may be that the target guns may be thicker than standard grades.

It could possibly be a 10T-D.
I can not see the forearm or the top of the receiver so I can not be sure, but the rib appears to be of that style.

Re: Remington 11 grade 6, or is it f grade ?
Tom, Thanks for posting pictures of your Model 11. I have the 1911-1912 catalogue and they are referred to at that time as No. 11F "Premier" Grade. In my collecting it appears that the grade designation on the barrel near the normal barrel address came into play around 135,000 and lasted o...

Re: Model 17, checkered but no engraving?
Maybe Researcher01 will help us with a catalog scan, but a B grade would be checkered on the forearm and pistol grip with no engraving.

Dave,
I was told of a high condition 10 ga that exists.
I do not feel right expounding on it, but you might "fish" a little on the Meridan site and get some feedback.

Thanks for sharing.
I too have just picked up a 1908 No. 4 RAS and interesting enough it has a red buffer.
I am not sure if it is original or has been added at a later date.
Would like to compare notes please send me an email to williamgurton (at) hot mail dot com.

Re: Rem Model 11 : Date Help, Please
CSM,
I am sorry but I haven't seen anything similar to it that has been attributed to the custom shop or one of the higher grade firearms.
Unfortunately, Mr. Huber has passed away and with his passing alot of very valuable knowledge has left with him.

Re: Rookie questions on a Model 10
The model 29 is the gun that replaced the Model 10.
I do not know for a fact but have been told that the trigger mechanism on the 10 was subject to wear and rendered it unsafe.
The difference in the 29 and the 10 was mainly the trigger mechanism.
The 10 will slam fire so please be careful.

Re: low serial number model 10
Researcher, I am not really sure that I ever saw it in official print anywhere, but it has been stated in a number of post that I have seen through time. I believe some were in circulation prior to their appearance in the catalogues. I am also working on an interesting theory concerning the RAS prod...
