Re: Clarification of parts for pre-model 11

EddieS, The steel friction ring on a Remington Autoloading Shotgun will have the flat or square base opposite of the beveled portion of the ring that accepts the brass friction brake. As far as the Bolt Buffer and rivet I have a RAS with one but most do not. I have to assume that the one I have was ...

Re: Remington Sportsman 48 TC - age & rarity?

Heidero, http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=514438933 Here is another that finally sold after a time or two around the auction block. Rarity? They are not often encountered but do not seem to have the desirability some other TC's have. If you plan to keep the gun, then by all means ...

Re: Model 11D

Dave (I assume), I don't believe there will be anything in the serial number that will indicate any of the features that you mention. There are, however, ways to see if the different parts of the gun are serialized together and if they match within historical timelines. As far as the poly-choke, the...

Re: Remington Pre-Model 11 Part Broken

Austin, The part that is broken is the operating handle. You can find them on Gunbroker, Numerich, and from time to time on Ebay. There is quite a bit of work to replacing it as you have to disassemble the entire bolt. It would be best to have a qualified gunsmith do this as he can check for other t...

Re: Help dating an 1894 CE

Canvasback, Are they measured Cyl/Cyl or are they stated Cyl/Cyl because it is obvious that they have been cut? Some of the 1894's had quite long choke tapers. My 10 ga CEO is right at 28" and cut, but throws wonderful Modified and Improved Modified patterns with short 10 reloads in modern plas...

Re: New Model 11, basic questions

Bluegill, It is very hard to get anyone to suggest fixes to issues with gun malfunctions, because quite frankly we live in the age of the lawsuit and all we have to go on is the description provided by the poster. If you have cleaned and lubricated the gun and have the friction brake adjusted proper...

Re: WTB: Model 10 Stock

Sorry I don't have one.

There has been a decent one floundering on eBay for a while but I was unable to locate it also.

Bob's Gun Parts in AR or Numerich may be able to help.

Re: Remington Model 11 #18895 with a Cutts Compensator barre

Brad, There is not a definitive answer for your question unfortunately. I can tell you I have an image of a 1952 Remington letter stating that a 15,2xx serial number gun was an "A" grade and shipped to a wholesaler in Nebraska in 1907. In June of 1907, Jeff J. Blanks of Trezevant, TN was p...

Re: Question on 1932 Model 11 Autoloader

The stock styling looks exactly right for the first transition from round knob to flat knob. It can be verified to the gun by checking the serial number stamping under the lower tang, of course this will require removal of the stock. This transition evolved as the radius of the grip evolved. Below 1...

Re: pre model 11 autoloading shotgun serial number help

Thanks for the butt plate information that is the latest example that I can recall having the early plate on.

Both guns have the smaller carrier button though correct?

There is no "Patent" stampings on the left side of the receiver on the 17,xxx gun is there?

Re: pre model 11 autoloading shotgun serial number help

Yes Mr. Tipton questioned the validity of Remington's records as he had guns in his collection with Serial Numbers below 10,000 and speculated that maybe it was 1,000 or even 100. I showed him examples of guns below 1,000 and SN 139 but have not seen an example of one below 100. I firmly believe the...

Re: Remington Autoloading Shotgun in search of TLC.

Most Auto 5 work gets directed to Art's Gun shop in MO.

If you are looking for expertise in that action gun, they have the market pretty well cornered these days.

How low a serial number is it?

Re: Graded Remington Model 10s

Bill, I have seen 2 I think. Rod Fuller advertised one in a Tournament "D" grade for a long time, may still have it that looked original. The other looked like a replacement. The checkering pattern would be one way to tell, but the only sure way is to remove the wood from the gun and verif...

I have seen 5 Model 10 Expert Grades, 7 Model 10 Premier Grades, and about a dozen Model 10 Tournament Grades. D's have been sold/priced between $550 - $1,850 E's None of which did not have some considerable issues $1,250 - $2,750 F's $600 - $1,150 major issues One good one sold for $2,250 And a 2 b...
