Help with M241 DOM?

I have a nice clean gun, basic model no checkering. The barrel has a code of TRR 3. at first I thought it was Nov. 1948 but then I read that the trailing 3 means it went back to the factory on that date, correct? The bottom of the barrel, directly in front of the forend is stamped 105384. Serial num...

Re: 2016 Hunting photo w/M30

I have a buddy down here that drew his first year (we're non-residents) and another guy that drew and then drew again the first time he was eligible 3 years later.

.35 Whelen did the job, he went about 15 yds and collapsed.

2016 Hunting photo w/M30

Last year, after 25 years of entering the Maine Moose Lottery I finally drew a tag. I always wanted a .35 Whelen so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Years ago I purchased a M30 that was in good, but not collector, condition. I sent it out for a rebore and went with old school optics, a stee...

I thought all 720's were D&T'd for scopes...

There are two NIB Navy guns on GB that only have a single hole in the rear bridge, nothing in the front. Was that done just for the Navy prize guns? My civilian gun is D&T'd...

Re: 720 Stocks?

I may be mistaken, and I'm sure if I am someone will chime in to correct me, but I was the impression all 720 were drilled and tapped for scope mounts.

Re: Oh! The humanity, the humanity....

Good to know Jim, thanks for putting my mind at rest. I almost went over to the dark side last year. About 3 years ago I completely tore down a M14 in .30 Rem, everything except the trigger group. I cleaned everything in an ultrasonic bath, dried and oiled all the parts and proceeded to let it sit f...

Oh! The humanity, the humanity....

Someone has been cannibalizing Model 14's and selling the parts on eBay for the last few weeks, first a .35 and now a .30.

If you need parts you may want to take a look.

Re: Old deer hunting photo, M14 or 141.

Really cool photo, I wonder if my deer take would go up if I wore a long dress coat instead of camo coveralls....

Old deer hunting photo, M14 or 141.

Man on right looks to have a Savage 99 but all the way to the left, isn't Harry S. Truman holding a Remington Model 14 or 141?

M14 Buttstock and Crescent buttplate on eBay 8/27/2013

NOT mine, no interest, just an FYI. The stock looks like it may have a crack at the head. Search for "Remington Model 14". Same seller for both, ends 9/2.

Re: M14 problem, won't fire if forearm not held forward.

Jim, Haven't had time to break down the gun and look but is there any chance I could have the sear lock in wrong? looks like there's' only one way to do it and the part that touches the plunger is shiny from wear but I figured I'd ask. No dummy rounds I have no dies but have some old Rem ammo. BTW, ...

Re: M14 problem, won't fire if forearm not held forward.

I had asked Jim about this by email so below is his response to help others... "I have seen this before and it is "usually" related to the the sear lock and trigger assembly, it isn't fully locking up. I tell everyone that these guns are very "quirky" and what you have descr...

M14 problem, won't fire if forearm not held forward.

Thanks to the inspiration I got from reading nambujim's posts I finally got around to reassembling a M14, .30 Rem, that I took apart 3 years ago. I tore it down completely, except for the trigger group, cleaned it in an ultrasonic bath, oiled it up and then let it sit. Put it back together today and...

Re: Model 17, checkered but no engraving?

I thought it might be a B grade but then I thought my E grade is marked "17E", wouldn't a B grade be marked "17B"?

My E project is still that, a project waiting in line behind others.
