Hello, That rifle started out as a pattern 1891 Russian Mosin Nagant, caliber 7.62x54r, manufactured during WW1 for the Russians. What 1917 test trial with Turkey?
The US was at war with the Central Powers, including Turkey, at least after April 1917.
Try contacting the Winchester Museum in Cody Wy for info, they might be able to help.

Remington restarted serial numbers at #1 beginning every year of production, 1916, 1917 and 1918, as did the Russian factories making the M1891 pattern, so your rifle could fall in any of those years, check the date.
