Thing is, that is George's actual email. And the name Kilcha Layman? That shows up in his emails as well

Re: Remington Rolling Block 7mm

Don't do it! I agree that these guns are strictly handloading critters using very conservative loading. Those sloppy military rollers need to, as tjack says, have custom fit brass for best results.

Military Rolling Blocks in the Movies

I am always on the lookout for films (good and bad) that at least try and be accurate with their depictions of period weapons. Recently I have stumbled on two. And while I only caught the last part of each, they both had lots of rolling blocks in the proper hands. The Four Feathers is about the Brit...

Re: 1879 Argentine factory overrun???

I have owned probably eight Argentine models over the years :D . A couple still had original tinned receivers and little to no finish. The others had the heavy-handed reblue and refinished stocks. My observations of the latter seems to indicate that the three rifles with the unmarked knoxform were n...

WTB Barrel for Husqvarna Commercial Rolling Block

Looking for a barrel that will fit to commercial Husqvarna rolling block action with minimal work. Prefer original 12.7x44R, but if you have one that has been threaded and chambered in something else I might be interested

Model 8 Rear Sight

I purchased an aftermarket rear sight for my Model 8. It is unmarked, but is similar to a Lyman No. 25 base with folding leaf. The barrel sleeve has two holes that have inserts that seem to be unthreaded and wiggle around in the holes. The sight came with screws, but I am at a loss as to how...

Model 8 Stripper Clips, Part Deux

OK, so I paid a pretty penny for a vintage stripper clip to go with my Model 8 in .35 Rem. Got it today and the little tabs on the side are too wide to slip down into the chamber. :x It is marked on one end: .35 CAL. .300 SAV. Is this a Remington product or some aftermarket job? Also, is this a comm...

Re: The New Collector's Guide of the Military Rolling Block

I have thoroughly enjoyed my copy as well. I did make me a little envious to see the Danish Engineer carbine with aluminium cartridge box in stock illustrated. I bought that from www.lauritz.com in Denmark around 2003 or 2004 before they clamped down on shipping antique guns overseas. Deci...

Sounds like a Model 4 in .32 rimfire. Google Model 4 Remington and you will find plenty of photos.

You have a Model 4. The band around the wrist appears to be some kind of repair, but hard to tell for sure.

Re: mod 721F and mod 8 grade 5 questions

Those are both gorgeous rifles. Great engraving on both. Your grandfather had good taste in guns! I think I would not mess with the stock on the first one. It really does not look bad at all. The Model 8 should keep its original stock, but send it to a qualified stock restoration guy. They can work ...
