Re: Any help for a Rolling Block? Thanks!!
While my personal interests run to Scandinavian commercial and sporting rolling blocks, it has given me an opportunity to see many gunsmith modifications to military rifles. Could the hammer and block be an example of a very good gunsmith taking the NY model parts and expertly modifying them to new ...

Re: What do I have (danish, but not the standard one).
Sight looks right to me. I believe the Danes did make a short M67 rifle. The more we learn about Scandinavian rolling blocks, the more questions arise.

Aren't those original detailed drawings? I have seen those before and I think that is it.

Re: Remington RB Carbine need help
That is really a shame about the US stamp. Someone took a high condition and relatively scarce carbine and mucked it up in an attempt to "martialmotize" it. Very sad.

Weird Carbine
Described as a .44-40 Baby Carbine. Unmarked tang. Markings on breech I am unfamiliar with. Gotta be foreign mfg. or a Frankengun.

Loading for 8x42R
Just for giggles - which may turn into bitter sobs of regret - I bought a Model 33 Husqvarna rolling block in 8x42R. I am not finding much in the way of reloading data, much less sources for brass, dies, etc. Anyone have any experience reloading this cartridge? Not really Remington, but rolling bloc...

Re: RB questions
Yes, you are going to Hell for getting the guy to take $20 off. The only way you can be absolved of this sin is to immediately send the rifle to me to be exorcised of its demons! Great catch, incidentally.

Rolling Block Floor Lamp
Picked up a neat collectible at an antique shop over the weekend. It is a lamp made from a 7mm rolling block rifle. Nice wooden base and table. The handle of a bench cleaning rod incorporated into the support. I have seen photos of these before and found an identifal one with a Danish roller (pic in...

Re: 12.7x44
I would do both chamber and bore casts with Cerrosafe, if you can get some. That will tell you what bullet diameter to use. The REAL bulets are used by some folks. I use a .510-.512 (depending on rifle) bullet ranging from 300 to 450 grains. For brass, the most economical and most common is to use c...

Re: 12.7x44
You seem to have a Husqvarna M67 military musket cut down into a sporter. Very common. Generally good shooters with some work. A rule of thumb with black powder is to fill the case to a point where seating bullet to depth compresses powder about 1/8". So depending on cases and bullets, the powd...

Re: 12.7x44
Is this a true carbine (M77 Cavalry or M85 Artillery) or a cut down sporter? Pics please.

Re: Remington Rolling Block Saddle Carbine identification he
You can make a quick and dirty chamber cast with wax that will give you a pretty good idea of the chambering. Cerosafe is better, if you can order some and wait a few days for it to be delivered.

OK. So it is a barrel mounted rear sight. The Argentine sight is a duplicate of the Austrian Werndl sight.

Re: Trivia Question - Rolling Block Receiver Sights Graduati
Are you sure they were on the receiver? I have never seen this on a military roller.
