Re: Another 1891 Rolling Block pistol

Thanks Marlinman,

I knew it was a long shot, but ya never know, so I had to ask.

Re: Another 1891 Rolling Block pistol

Hi Marlinman,

A great find! What a nice pair to have. Do you know how many RB target pistols were made by each gunsmith?

Thanks,
Daniel

Re: 1875 Hammer

Hi,

I'm awaiting an answer from Taylor & Co. on which parts for their 1875 Remmie repo will fit the originals. Will post their answer here.

Re: Custom Shop 700

Hi,

You will get a better response if you post this in the rifle section, instead of the handgun section.

Re: Remington M-1861 “Old Model” Transitional Revolver.

Hi John,

Sorry, but can't help you with loading info. I haven't shot a BP revolver in 40+ years. There will be lots of online sites with good, up to date info on loading them, with both BP and modern substitutes. Good luck and let us know how they shoot.

Re: Remington M-1861 “Old Model” Transitional Revolver.

Hi John, If you mean how many Old (Elliot) Model Armies were made, about 10,000, but I don't know if that includes transition models form the Beals, or transitions to the New Model. If you mean how many were transitions, there is no way to know. Remington practice was to use up old parts before swit...

Re: Remington M-1861 “Old Model” Transitional Revolver.

Hi John, Welcome to the RSA forum. The serial number, 13447 was made in February, 1863. Do all three numbers, the barrel, trigger guard tab, and the frame match? It looks like a late transition model, since it has New Model cylinder, loading lever, and the lower hammer spur, while the rear of the fr...

Re: 1858 navy

Welcome mwebster, To get the best chance for a reply, you need to start a new thread, instead of tacking on to an existing thread. Next, we need pictures to ID the model. That long "number" with letters and numbers together is not a Remington serial. That is a good example of why we need p...

Re: Special Remington or not?

Hi Nils,

There are just too many variables to be able to give a value estimate, that is anything but a guess, so the RSA policy is that no values can be given.

Re: 1901 Remington Hubalek pistol

Hi Marlinman93, It is just easier to say that all RB pistols were made by ERS, and thus before 1888, rather than get into what happened, and in which years. It's simple, all RB pistils are antiques. Thanks for the Hulabek info. I spent some time online researching him. Very interesting man. Makes me...

Re: 1901 Remington Hubalek pistol

Hi Marlinman93, Here's some info from Landskron's book on the RB pistols. ALL RB pistol frames were made by E. Remington & Sons! So all RB frames were made before 1888, thus no matter what model number, or what year it was assembled into a firearm, they are all antiques. This is by the 1968 law....

Re: Remington 141 Dealer to Avoid

Well, any person, or dealer is free to ask whatever he wants to ask. It is up to the buyer to know about the product he is looking at, and to decide if it is worth the asking price. As long as the seller describes the firearm correctly, there is no complaint.

Hello Harley Dude, The only time that I've seen rifles with nickel barrels is because they were deactivated, and used for parade rifles.Usually given, loaned, or sold cheap to Veterans' groups. The usually have a short, or pinned barrel to prevent any live ammo from being used, yet allow blanks to f...

Re: Special Remington or not?

Hello Nils, Interesting revolver. The serial was made in Nov of 1864. It is a New Model Army. The recoil shield has been milled for cartridge loading, and a backing plate has been added to the rear of the frame opening, but it has a standard, percussion cylinder. It may have been converted to fire a...
