Re: 878 Automaster

An 878 was my first 12 gauge. I have never heard of one with a vent rib barrel. It was basically a low-end gun which followed the M58, and was soon replaced by the 1100. The gun was also private labeled thru Mongomery Ward. I had two barrels with mine - 26" open choke and 28' tight choke

Re: remington alloy receivers

The 31L 20 gauge I have has a crack in the lower front part of the receiver, between the magazine tube and the bottom port. I am told this was a common occurance on these guns. Anyone else ever see the problem?

Re: remington alloy receivers

Agree about the M31. I still use my Dad's solid rib 31 as my duck gun, and I have a 31L 20 gauge which is my wet weather grouse gun

Re: M31TC

A number of years ago, I picked up a pretty good booklet at a gun show. Don't know if they are still in business, but it might be worth a try: "Remington Model 31 takedown guide" from J. Martin Inc" 304-255-4077. BTW, in the late '50's or early '60's my Dad who was a Remington Directo...

Re: Changing wood on Model 31..

I have a set of instuctions labeled "Remington Model 31 takedown guide" from J. Martin Inc" 304-255-4077, which says "If the forearm assembly needs to be removed, the magazine assembly will have to be taken off. This is not recommended because of the difficulty realigning the hol...

105 CTi

The 105 CTi seems to have had a hard time getting off the ground. Apparently, they are back in production now. I heard something about the newer guns having some improvments made to them. Anyone have any insight into this? Am contemplating getting something for my Left-handed grandsons

Re: 870 Matched Pair

Yes - They are a matched pair. Probably should have a set of fore end weight caps, and there should be gold fill in the rolled engraving on the receivers. They made Matched Pair sets fo both 1100 and 870's. At one time, i had the #3 set of 1100's

Re: Choke on Sportsman 12 Magnum pump with rifle sites.

For a real quick answer as to whether the gun is a full choke, insert a fresh dime into the muzzle. If it will not go in, it is full choke. if it does enter, the gun is more open choked.

You might want to check out some of the websites that sell barrels. Here's one I found when I Googled "Shotgun Barrels for sale"

Re: A Basic 870 Question

I think you would have to put an exception on the 3 1/2" barrel fitting on conventional receivers.

M 3200 Metal Finish

Was the metal on any 3200's originally finished in a flatter black nitride type finish, instead of the high gloss typically seen?
