Yes, and no. The top rifle is the #1 1/2, bottom is the #1. In the second picture they are left to right: #1, #1 1/2, #2, #3, and #4.

Curious about one thing. Is your barrel marked on the top flat E. Remington or Remington Arms? And Marlinman93 practically stole that rifle :wink: but when you find a deal like that you gotta do what you do. :) I've only seen 3-4 sporters in gunshows the last 20 years and two of those were rimfires...

Most of that info is generic to both the #1 and #1 1/2, except the last thing! The longer lower tang clinches it as a #1 Sporter. #1 military, and all other sporting models did not have the longer lower tang. You've got a great old Rem. #1 alright!

I'm beginning a build up of another #1 Sporting Rifle from an original action. I plan to put a 34" barrel and chamber it in .40-65, with 1-16" twist. I've got a Lee Shaver long range soule tang coming for it, but I'll use it on my Hepburn until the Roller is done.-Vall

Most I've seen were side levers, but I have seen one done recently that used an underlever.

There have been a number of sidelever conversions on the old Rolling Block large framed rifles over the years. I don't know of any factory conversions to sidelever, but maybe one of the folks who have more contact with the factory, or early Rolling Block designs might know.

You should probably do a chamber cast, as I could guess, but it will still need to be confirmed by a casting. Possibly 12.17x44R, which is the closest Scandinavian caliber to .50-70 that I know of.-Vall
