Re: Remington Model 14a serial #C74236
I have a few questions on your rifle that was most likely made in 1920. Could I get you to send a picture to my email address? I started this typing questions but after 6 of them, I think a picture or two might save time. I maintain a database on model 14s and should be able to provide with more det...

Re: 14 141 stock help
On my 141R, it is 2" when measuring from a straight edge laid on top of the receiver down to the heel of the buttplate. Doing the same on two 14Rs, it is 2 1/2". .....tom

Re: Model 22a pump 22 manufacture date?
I am assuming that you mean that you have a model 12A as a 22A is a nonexistent model. If so, your slide action rifle was made in 1922.

Re: Year of Manufacture Rem model 25
You are correct in the build code indicating March, 1930 on a serial range that would normally is 1923 production. Is there any number behind the AY? I list another close the that serial that carries a code indicating 6/30, but also has a 2 behind it, indicating a barrel alone that was sold on that ...

Re: Year of Manufacture Rem model 25
One more thing. Jim said Remington did not always produce guns in serial number order. Well the "Q" on the 25s I have listed range from 136X all the way to 10,1XX. In between I record build codes that go from December, 1922 to as late as 1934.......tom

Re: Year of Manufacture Rem model 25
In January, 1924 Remington started with the year code letter "Q" but they only used it in January production. On a database that records information on 800 model 25s, I find it on 14 listings and on my model 14 database consisting of 2600 entries, only 1 rifle has the Q. After January, Q w...

Re: Model 14/141 Carbine ID Help Please
Chris: Your gun is a Model 14R, in other words, a carbine with an 18½" barrel. The serial number indicates that it was made in 1914 but as they did not always produce guns in serial number order, it could have been made a couple of years later. Carbine production seems to have started during th...

Re: High number model 25
Nambujim told me about your problem. First off, could you carefully check out that serial again. I list information on 790 model 25s on my database and the highest serial found so far is 32789. Your rifle was made EE, or October, 1936, and that looks like the last month of a quantity being made. Bey...

Re: Grade of a 1976 Woodsmaster in .243
You have a 742 BDL, with "skipline checkering" a pattern started in 1973. In the 20 years that 742s were made, a total of 1,497,169 were made. 6% of those, or 81,786, were .243 caliber.

Re: Remington Model 25 .25-20
10302 was made in March, 1924. Around 32000 Model 25s were made from 12/22 thru 1937 with around 56 made that last year. With the condition you describe and the Lyman tang sight, I would put the value on the plus side of $700. Keep in mind that it is very hard to price something not actually seen. ....

Re: Model 25 pump action take-down rifle, 25-20- HELP!. cal
I see some issues with this particular rifle. The receiver is not marked "AA" above the serial number. Receivers into the 14,000 range were marked this way. Early barrels were marked "Model 25" on the barrel, between "Remington trade mark" and "25-20". This ba...

Re: Model 25 pump action take-down rifle, 25-20 cal
DU2 indicates a "part order barrel" that was sold in September, 1927. So that means that the rifle has been rebarreled outside the factory. If you give me the serial, I could probably come close to when the rifle itself was built as I maintain a database on model 25s. Production of model 2...

Re: Remington Model 81 barrel markings
First of all, let me apologize. Having not read carefully, I assumed you had a model 8 and not an 81. DE means the rifle was made in September, 1936 and it was back for repair in May, 1952. There is no way to tell what the repair was. As to the finger grooves, I really have no idea......tom

Re: Remington Model 81 barrel markings
KYY3 means returned to factory for repair in May, 1952. I assume the DE, which could be September of 1936 or 1958, was also a repair date and they did not strike a 3. I have seen other guns with a repair date and no 3 occasionally over the years........tom
