Re: Mo 25 mystery markings

Jim is right. I would strongly advise you not to rechamber a Remington M-25 into a 218 Bee.

Re: Remington Model 14 ? or not

You have a Model 14. There are too many variables that effect the value to provide you with a price. Such things as condition, type of sights, carbine or rifle, what the grade is, and any modifications all need to be taken into consideration. You can look at the Blue Book Of Gun Values and watch on l...

Re: Remington model 14 with factory case ??????

Your rifle is an "A" grade. When you say 14-C you would be saying it had high grade wood with checkering. So that you don't mislead others, you have a Model 14 or a Model 14-A. I didn't think of it before, but there will be a date code on the left side rear of the barrel. You can find the ...

Re: Remington model 14 with factory case ??????

Your rifle is a little older. The receiver was made in 1925. I have never seen a Remington case like the one in your picture; however, that does not mean it isn't Remington I hope some other 14 collectors will make comments. The rifle looks original for date of manufacture. How are the holes spaced ...

Re: Remington model 14 with factory case ??????

Shaynewin If you can post a picture, it would help. There isn't much in writing on this subject. Remington did offer gun cases. Most were all leather or leather and canvas. They seem to favor takedown models (short cases with a place for the barrel and reciver held separately). I have seen written f...

Re: Remington Pump uses 30 Rem. ammo.

richlucy You rifle was made during the second year of production of the Model 14 1913. 30 Rem ammo is no longer made but some custom ammunition manufactures still load it. The Model 14 was made in a rifle 22" barrel and a carbine 18-1/2" barrel. There were several grades with the most comm...

Re: model 14 questions

From your description, it is unlikely that your rifle is factory engraved. Still, I would like to see a picture of it to compare with known factory engraving. There are only three engraved grades of the Model 14; "D", "E" and "F". The "D" grade does not have a...

Re: Remington Model 14C

In 1914 Remington offered tang sights in Mable's and Lyman. They also had a wheel elevator with a cobination peep and straight bar hinged leaf rear sight. When you say you have a 14-C do you mean a "C" grade or a rifle that has a "C" by the serial number? If it doen't have checke...

Re: protecting old guns that are nib

Dave is right. Renaissance Wax and keep silicon oils away from the wood. Keep fingerprints off the metal (white gloves). Control the huhumidity.Keep an eye on the conditions as often as you have time for. The same advice for any gun that is in storage. For NIB, keep protected from direct sun light.

Re: Model 14 Date of Manufacture

Remdawg Seems like some confusion here. The 14-1/2 was only made in 44/40 and 38/40 calibers. Production ended around 1930. Model 14 production ended around June of 1935. One factory document says Serial number 128934 was the end of production. The model that replaced the Model 14 was the Model 141....

Re: Pictures of 141/14 grades and stock options

Looks like a Model 14 to me. It should have the serial number on the bottom of the receiver with the letter "C" on top of the number. You are right about the restocking.

Re: Remington model 14 DOB?

Your rifle will have a date code on the left side of the barrel, just in front of the receiver. Once you have the code, go to the home page of this site and click on Date Of Manufacture. This will give you the cipher to the "BLACK POWDER" code, and give you the month and year your rifle wa...

The placement of the "C" is normal for a rifle of your age.

Re: Remington Model 14 or 141

You have a Model 14. The "C" prefix of the serial number deignates Model 14. Your serial number indicates the receiver was made toward the end of 1913. That is the second year of production. About 16420 Model 14 rifles were made that year. A rifle from that period of production would most ...
