Re: Remington 41-P

Just picked up a nice 41-P TargetMaster..... Mine does not have a peep sight and I was wondering if it should? Thanks The rear 'Point-crometer' peep sight should look like this.... http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f70/loner5667/Remington%2041-P/41PMicrometer2.jpg ....and the proper front sight sho...

Re: Model 12 brass butt plate?

It looks to me like someone took a buttplate from an old pre-WWI Enfield rifle, swapped out the brass trap door from a later version and filed it down to match the profile of the Model 12 butt. In the pic that shows the back side of the buttplate, the lower end shows a different profile on each side...

Just curious regarding date code

I was trying to help someone date their old Remington rifle and the date code looked at first like 'LV'. The manufacture dates chart shows that the letter 'V' was first used in 1979, and not before and this rifle is definetly older than that. Anyone have an idea as to why 'V' was omitted prior to th...

Re: Model 4 Rolling Block 22 Cal

Chukpike, I'm sorry I can't help you with the firing pin question, but the stock in the pictures does not appear to be in that bad of shape. If it were mine, I would try something like 'Howards' feed-n-wax on it and just clean it up. If you decide you want to re-finish it, I use 'Formby's' or the eq...

Re: Remington 511P Question??

Both of my M511's non-'P' versions have the post front sight with the silver bead, and are dovetailed into the barrel.

Re: Remington 510-P

The barrel has to be screwed in to the right headspace in order for the firing pin to have a firm contact with the primer rim and cause ignition. The 5-teen series barrels were pressed in and then cross pinned with two steel pins on the bottom. If the bolt doesn't sit far enough forward on the new ...

I would have to agree with John on the M33 or the M41. I don't own a M514, but my M510 has an aluminum 'tray' that you could lay the round on. Both the M33 and the M41 have a cocking knob on the rear of the bolt that has to be pulled to fire the rifle. The M41 has a 'wing' on the knob that rotates u...

Mzimmer, 513T's were designed to use 'target scopes' and mounting blocks. Target scopes are about 24" in length and can still be found today, mostly on ebay at sadly inflated prices. Go to ebay and try searching for 'Unertl', or 'Lyman super target spot', or 'Litschert', or 'Fecker' scopes, wil...

The missing screw is in the wind somewhere. No I didn't strip the action, but I probably should. I am talking about the weight of pull screw. If I back the over travel screw out I can get the trigger pull down to about 5-6#. Have not messed with the sear pivot screw, but I geuess it might be wirth a...

Trouble with trigger on 513T

Couple weeks ago the trigger adjustment screw on my 513T must have fallen out at the range and I figure I scooped it up with the brass off the bench and dumped it in the brass bucket. I ended up with about a 1/4oz trigger the next trip to the range. I ordered and installed a replacement screw, read ...

rsv1rem, Looking at Stroebels 'Old Gunsights' on pp. 24, yours looks like the third variation 1A. If thats correct, then yes, the head of the screw was a flatened, slotted, and appears to be about the same diameter as the locking ring. Joe may be a good bet for this, especially if it's an odd thread...

New 41P

picked up a 41P at the gun show today, nice shape. Had some minor stock repair at some point in its life, but not bad. The pointed for elevation was under the sight instead of on top of it and both apratures are there. Question is, there is no barrel code on the rifle, only a SN on the bottom of the...

Rem725,
I see that you are listed as living in 'heaven', with lots of rain. Can you tell me where EEGC at McGowan creek is? In the last year I have been making an attempt at BR with an old 513T and a Redield 20x scope. Not having a whole lot of luck yet, just a lot of fun.

Thanks, David

Martinihenry, I don't know where your at, but I think I just bought your friends M34, or at least its twin. The inner mag. tube stops dead about where it enters the block that the outer tube is mounted into. I also ran a cleaning rod down the tube with zero resistance, and am unable to visualize any...
